There is “no place like home”, and no place like this “home away from home”.
With about a 360 degree water view…two private pocket beaches…inviting pier… wrap around deck…spacious interior… fully equipped kitchen…are all the ingredients for an amazing family memory.
Our home is perfect for your family vacation. It is and has been a memory maker for our family for many years. There’s a special feeling of “home” as you walk in. Immediately you are captivated by the expansive view of the Patuxent River. Step out on the deck; the view to your left is entrance to the Chesapeake Bay, straight across Patuxent Naval Air Station, then to the right Thomas Johnson Bridge to St. Mary’s county. In fact, there’s a view from every window! Mornings are beautiful with an always new sunrise over the Chesapeake Bay. To top off a perfect day pull your chair up for another spectacular sunset! You have a front row seat for both events.
Two pocket beaches for enjoying the sun or taking a dip. You’ll find children spend the day searching for treasures, building sand castles or swimming! The large pier can accommodate many folks for fishing or crabbing and moorage for small boat, with shallow draft. Take a seat on the bench and wait for that fish to bite! Reel him in and clean him in the pier sink!
Our guests rave about our amenities, including appliances, spices, linens, towels, games, toys and the list goes on. Choose to prepare meals at home? You will be pleased with a very well equipped kitchen and plenty of room for helpers too! A gas grill sits in the corner garden area. A cool spot in the evening and very peaceful.
Take a stroll down the boardwalk, check out quaint shops, ice cream shops, kids playground , gazebo, and public restrooms. Great restaurants for dining in or out, ice cream shops (2), charter boat fishing, boat and kayak rentals. New to THE PIER is a wine tasting room. See the welcome book for more info on restaurants in the area.
The Calvert Marine Museum offers interactive play for kids. The exhibits are informative and historical. Don’t miss the otters! You can go through the Drum Point Lighthouse and take a daily cruise on the Tennison up the Patuxent River. The Oyster Museum is on island…oysters were and still harvested on the River. About 2 miles to Dowell Road you will find Anne Marie Gardens on St. John’s River. Beautiful sculptures along wooded trails, many things to do and see, don’t miss this.
There are many opportunities for “day trips”. Washington DC and Annapolis are within an hour. Please stop by the Solomon’s Island Tourist information center just as you come down the island. You’ll find a plethora of materials for all Southern Maryland and surrounding areas.
If you would like a relaxing, laid back and peaceful vacation, this is the place. Most folks “just hang out” at the house and enjoy the activity and scenes on the water. Seems there is always something new to see in this beautiful and private setting.
