The ‘Boathouse’ doesn’t shelter watercraft anymore, but it does provide a wonderful home on the shore of 3000 acre Lake Kegonsa. It is located at Crown Point Resort in a country setting, but is only 15 minutes from downtown Madison Wisconsin, 20 minutes from the airport, and 2 hours from Chicago’s O’Hare airport. Lake Kegonsa (lake of many fishes) is one of the four large lakes starting in Madison and is generally unknown and uncrowded. www.crownpointresort.com

Bring your boat! There is a long pier right out the door that provides bumpers for tie up. The boat launch is 5 minutes away. Gas and bait are also close. For our guests only, we rent 2 small fishing boats with motors,a 9 person pontoon boat, 6 kayaks,4 single and 2 doubles, and a paddle boat. As we don’t have a sandy beach, most everyone swims off the end of the pier and swim raft. The lake bottom is rocky or sandy. No drop offs or muck. We have other size lake cottages for rent.
